Nancy Bourne, a retired California attorney who writes short stories, established this website so that any friends or family members who expressed an interest would be able to find her published stories all in one place. Here they are. (Click on names of journals to read stories. Some journals are print only; the links are to pdfs on this site. To read those stories, click on thumbnails.)
Nancy died on March 11, 2021, succumbing to lung and accelerated cancer-related problems after a 14-month struggle, during which she continued to write and publish stories and novellas, including a yet-to-be published novel set in 17th century America. We who knew her grieve the terrible loss of this amazing, brilliant and compassionate woman. In addition to writing, she devoted energy and passion to teaching prisoners in San Quentin; voting rights and racial and social justice; and saving the environment. Spotswood, Virginia, a collection of her stories set in the South during the Civil Rights era, was launched on September 26, 2021 at Book Passage in Corte Madera.
